The first episode of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, titled “I’m Here,” has officially dropped, and honestly, it’s a pretty solid start. If you’re used to the main My Hero Academia series with big action scenes and flashy pro heroes, this one feels a little different—in a good way.
The story follows Koichi Haimawari, a regular college student who has a small Quirk and a quiet dream of helping people. He didn’t make it into the big leagues as a licensed hero, but that doesn’t stop him from trying to do the right thing. He’s not out to be famous—he just wants to help where he can.
Koichi soon teams up with two other vigilantes. Pop☆Step is a high-energy performer who uses her Quirk to put on shows (and get into a bit of trouble). Then there’s Knuckleduster, an older guy with no Quirk at all—just fists, attitude, and a lot of experience. He’s rough around the edges, but he seems to care in his own way.
Together, they form a team that’s kind of messy but real. They don’t always have a plan, and they’re not perfect—but that’s part of what makes it fun to watch.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Episode 1 does a nice job balancing things out. There’s a bit of action, some funny moments, and just enough background info to get you into the story without slowing things down. Koichi is easy to root for—he’s not trying to be a big deal, he just wants to help.
One thing that stands out is how they hint at something bigger going on. There’s talk of a weird Quirk-enhancing drug called Trigger, and it looks like that might cause some serious problems later in the story.
Just when you think the episode’s wrapping up, there’s this blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment—Shōta Aizawa, aka Eraser Head, shows up. It’s quick, but if you’re a fan of the main My Hero Academia series, it definitely catches your attention. He doesn’t say much, but his appearance makes you wonder how involved he’s going to be in this side of the story. It kind of hints that things might get more serious soon—and maybe the pros are keeping an eye on what these vigilantes are up to.
If you’re looking for something that feels a bit more real and less polished than the main My Hero Academia story, this spin-off is worth checking out. My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Episode 1 might not have huge fights or big-name heroes, but it tells a story that feels honest and personal.
It’s a cool start to what could be a really meaningful series about what being a hero really means—doing what you can, where you are, even if nobody notices.
